Thanksgiving Weekend Events
There are many festive events being held this weekend. The Christmas Festival will be held at the Sonora Fairgrounds, November 28th through 30th. The MotherLode Makers group is hosting a Mini Maker Fair at the festival with live demonstrations, specialty workshops and a Hexayurt. Make some green crafts with recycled/reused material. The Sonora Christmas Parade will be a festive evening event today and you can get your own tree from the Sonora High Ag Boosters and Sonora FFA. Their Christmas Tree Sale and Can Food Drive starts November 29th and goes until December 6th or when the trees run out. For all the details on price and location view the event listing here.
Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Groveland will host a two day Thanksgiving Bake Sale and Fundraiser on Friday and Saturday. Homemade treats, gifts, and a chance to win a quilt, more details are here.
Avery and Copperopolis will host Christmas Tree lightings. The Avery Christmas Tree Lighting will include Santa, refreshments and caroling will starting at 5:30 pm. The tree lighting will take place at 6:00 pm in Avery and Copperopolis.
FOr some educational fun show up for Mark Twain’s Trials, Tales and Trails. An easy 2.5-mile hike will be led by a Bureau of Land Management Ranger who will follow the Sierra Railroad’s tracks that traversed through the winding foothills from Angels Camp to Jamestown. Meet at the New Melones Visitor Center at 10 a.m. and caravan to the Stevenot Bridge, details are here.
