Angels Camp, CA — The Angels Camp and Sonora Police Departments recently teamed up to scan for intoxicated drivers.
Funding for the effort was from a grant supplied by the California Office of Traffic Safety. It was set up over the weekend in the 100 block of South Main Street in Angels Camp. 401 vehicles were screened between 6pm – midnight. The Angels Camp PD reports that two citations were issued for driving without a license, and one person was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence.
Checkpoints are held periodically as a way to catch DUI drivers and those with other violations.
