Friedman To Lead Irish Parade
Murphys, CA – A Forest Meadows woman who “tirelessly…works to help make this the remarkable town it is”, according to parade organizers, has been named as Grand Marshal of this year’s Murphys Irish Day Parade.
President of the Murphys Community Club, Suzanne Friedman, has the distinct honor of leading the parade as it makes its way down Main Street on Saturday, March 21. Parade officials say Friedman’s duties for the club include booking events at the popular downtown park and working with the Murphys Business Association on special projects like the membership drive, and soliciting sponsors for Irish Day.
Friedman says, “I am truly honored, and frankly surprised, to be chosen as Grand Marshal. Murphys Irish Day is one the most enjoyable annual events the gold country has to offer. It has been a great deal of fun having helped put it on, and to be part of the parade is very exciting. Now all we need is good weather.”
Friedman and her husband, Mel, live in Forest Meadows where she is on its board of directors. She previously owned and managed Dellett Associates, a marketing service agency in Pleasanton. Ten years ago the couple moved to Murhpys from Carmel Valley.
The event begins with an 8 a.m. pancake breakfast on March 21st at the Congregational Church. Then from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., there will be live music, a variety of vendors and food. The parade begins at 11 a.m. There is no admission charge. Parking and shuttle service is available at Ironstone Vineyards on Six Mile Road. Information: 728-8471 or visitmurphys.org.
