Caltrans Crews Back Beginning Sunday
Sonora, CA – Practice your deep-breathing or plan alternate routes, Mother Lode motorists, as Caltrans work may generate delays of up to 15 minutes this week.
On Highway 108 near Jamestown 15-minute overnight delays from 9 p.m. until 7 a.m. will play out as follows for grinding and paving work: Sunday night through Tuesday morning at Fifth Avenue; Tuesday night through Thursday morning at Woods Creek; and Thursday night into early Friday at Chicken Ranch Road from 9 p.m. until 7 a.m.
Daytime 15-minute delays should be anticipated in Calaveras County beginning Monday, as an eight-mile-long paving project along Highway 4 rolls out east of Cottage Springs. Officials say the work, which is expected to take through late September, will focus between Meko and Ganns Meadow drives. Anticipate one-way traffic control and shoulder closures every weekday from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Ten-minute Delays Overnight, Daily In Calaveras
Sunday night, crews return to Highway 12 between Cedar Street and Highway 49 for overnight paving work, creating ten-minute motorist delays. Hours will run from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m., lasting through Friday morning. Similar impacts over the same timeframe will occur while utility work continues on Highway 26 between Savage Way and Paloma Road.
Beginning Monday, overnight utility work on Highway 26 between Hogan Dam Road and Highway 12 will also create traffic stops for ten minutes at a time from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. through Friday morning.
On Highway 26, anticipate more ten-minute traffic stops from 9 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. in two spots. Tuesday through Friday a crew will be making guardrail repairs between Winton road and the Calaveras/Amador Line. Wednesday and Thursday striping operations will be running under a moving closure from Highway 49 in Mokelumne Hill to Winton Road.
Also on Highway 12, Monday only, between Lime Creek and Double Springs roads, guardrail repairs will likely generate ten-minute delays from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Hot Spots On Highways 49, 108 and 120
Along Highway 49 in San Andreas every weekday between Main Street and Pool Station Road utility potholing is taking place from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m., creating momentary setbacks. Expect similar traffic interruptions daily on Highway 4 while utility work is addressed between Henry and Lilac streets from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m.
In Tuolumne County on Highway 49, brief traffic interruptions are possible daily between the Merced River Bridge and Serpentine Point as drainage cleaning and inspection operations are slated to run from 6:30 a.m. until 2 p.m.
On Highway 108, daily tree work continues between Soulsbyville Road and Strawberry East, generating ten-minute traffic stops from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. Briefer ones are also possible between Cascade Creek and Mill Creek roads each weekday during drainage work from 8:30 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Remember, along Highway 120, ten-minute delays are in order nearly round-the-clock through the end of September while crews work on the Tuolumne River bridge renovation. Tree crews, back working every weekday between Old Priest Grade Road and the West Boundary Yosemite Park entrance from 5:30 a.m. until 6 p.m., may also slow traffic for ten-minutes at a time.
