The First Week Of Spring; Another Round Of Snow

Sponsored by:

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the Sierra Nevada above 6,000 feet, from late tonight through late Friday night.

A Pacific frontal system is forecast to move through Northern California late tonight and Friday. This moderately cool system will bring another round of snow to the Sierra passes and will likely impact travel Friday through Saturday morning.

In addition to the snowfall, gusty winds up to forty-five mph are likely at times at the highest elevations, especially on Friday.

Total snow accumulations will range from eight to thirteen inches above the 6,000 foot elevation.

If planning travel through the Sierra Nevada range tonight through early Saturday, expect delays and chain controls. Be prepared and check the latest weather and road reports before your departure.

A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant snow accumulations that may impact travel. Continue to monitor the latest forecasts.
