A Hopping Great Time At The Calaveras Fair Kick Off

Sponsored by:

Angels Camp, CA — A cast of hundreds and two frogs celebrated last night’s official kick off for this year’s Calaveras County Fair & Frog Jump Jubilee.

Although she did not know until Frogmeister Ron Dwelley with frog bucket in hand pulled her out of her seat, Today’s Country 93.5 KKBN morning co-host Bridgette Fanucchi gamely served to assist him in introducing the amphibian guests of honor to the packed house that turned out for the event.

Fair CEO and Manager Laurie Giannini, adding MC duties for the evening, tapped fair board members and committee chairs to introduce and honor the village of volunteers, staff and fair sponsors responsible for helping make this year’s event happen.

Longtime fair supporters John and Gail Kautz of Ironstone Vineyards received the fair’s Blue Ribbon Award. The Sam L. Higgins Ranch Higgins Family was also singled out for special honors. Added to the Honor Roll for their service were fair directors Talibah Al Rafiq and Steve Wooster; along with Firman Brown, Linda Olson and Frogmeister Dwelley. Junior Fair board scholarships were presented to Alyssa Hobgood and Alyssa Brooks. Attending local dignitaries included Calaveras County District 3 Supervisor Michael Oliveira and his wife Jennifer, new county CAO Tim Lutz and Angels Camp Mayor Scott Behiel.

Making their official public debuts were the the Miss Calaveras Scholarship Program contestants: Jillian Baker, Dacey Behm, Annie Curtis, Victoria Fischer, Shaelyn Hamari, Presley Jenkins, and Nichole Piper. Also introducing themselves to the audience were the eight vying for the title of Saddle Queen: Emily Bolton, Jamie Brimmer, Rebecca Butler, Jennifer Cox, Morgan Danfelt, Melissa Esparza, Kari Farwell, and Kaitlyn Mcintosh.
