Sponsored by:

The Winter Storm Warning issued for the western slope of the northern Sierra Nevada, will expire at 11 AM this morning (Thursday). Additionally, the Winter Weather Advisory issued for Yosemite National Park above 5,500 feet, will end at 5 PM this afternoon (Thursday).

The heaviest snow is occurring this morning, above 5,500 feet. Lingering snow showers are expected through this afternoon.

The snow levels currently range between 3,500 to 4,500 feet.

Additional snow accumulations above the 5,500 foot elevation, will range from half-a-foot to as much as fifteen inches. The higher you go, the more the snow.

Winds have been gusting as high as forty-five to fifty-five mph. Strong winds could cause tree damage.

Travel could be very difficult from delays, snow-covered roads, and chain controls.

If you must travel, slow down, use caution. Keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

The next system will bring periods of moderate snow Friday through Saturday with additional mountain travel impacts possible.
