Segarini Talks About City Of Sonora Issues

Sponsored by:

Sonora City Councilman George Segarini likes the recent growth of business that he has seen in downtown Sonora.

Segarini was Wednesday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.

“I think that business owners have been taking advantage of the opportunities that the City of Sonora provides, including the education and financing available to small business start-ups,” said Segarini.

With growth comes new challenges.

“We have been granted a grant to take a look at re-engineering the intersection at the Red Church, which includes Washington Street, Elkin and Snell Street, said Segarini. “This is to square up the intersection to help realign it and add a little landscaping to the area. There will be public meetings so that the engineers will know what people are thinking along the way”.

Segarini continued, “It is difficult to see people on the crosswalks along Washington Street in downtown Sonora. We are taking a serious look at several options.”

What about the intersection of Greenley and Mono Way?

“The street widening has been completed,” said Segarini. “The sidewalks are in and the pavement has been repaved in all directions. The entire intersection project will conclude in the next week or two.”

The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard every weekday morning at 6:45, 7:45 and 8:45 on AM 1450 and FM 102.7 KVML.
