California State Parks Week Returns With Over 200 Events Statewide

Sacramento, CA– The third annual California State Parks Week, set for June 12-16, invites the public to celebrate with more than 200 events across the state. Presented by California State Parks, Save the Redwoods League, Parks California, and the California State Parks Foundation, this week-long event highlights the state’s 280 parks through community events and virtual programming. A complete list of events and participation details is available at CAStateParksWeek.org. but some events involve the following.

Wednesday, June 12: Explore New Experiences Featured events include an evening hike at Hollister Hills SVRA, a sunset kayak tour at Lake Natoma, and an owl meet-and-greet at China Camp SP.

Thursday, June 13: Nourish Your Health and Well-being Highlighted by a guided hike on the Lava Bluffs Trail at Calaveras Big Trees SP, this day focuses on health benefits from nature. The moderate to strenuous 2.5-mile trail includes volcanic formations and wildflower spotting. Participants should wear long pants, sturdy shoes, and bring water. The hike begins at 9:30 a.m. and lasts 2.5-3 hours.

Friday, June 14: Support Climate Resilience Events include a beach cleanup at Leo Carrillo SP, a wind turbine tour at Pacheco SP, and climate resilience activities at Auburn SRA and Cardiff SB.

Saturday, June 15: Celebrate Community and Culture Join guided tours at the State Indian Museum SHP, a kite-flying event at Candlestick Point SRA, and a Native American arts and crafts celebration at Antelope Valley Indian Museum SHP.

Sunday, June 16: Care for Our Shared Lands Contribute to public land stewardship through events like marine debris monitoring at Tomales Bay SP and beach habitat restoration at Half Moon Bay SB.

California State Parks Week supports the “Outdoor Access for All” initiative by Governor Gavin Newsom and the Natural Resources Agency, aiming to expand outdoor access for all Californians, especially underserved communities.
