Plans For Jamestown Bazaar Approved By Supervisors

Sponsored by:

Jamestown, CA — Tuolumne County Supervisors unanimously approved plans by the Tuolumne County Chamber of Commerce to use Jamestown’s Rocca Park for the Jamestown Bazaar, a farmers market type of event that will run on the first and third Fridays of the month, running June 21 through August 16.

There is no charge to rent the park, and some supervisors questioned whether a small fee should be in place. District Four Supervisor Kathleen Haff brought up that she fully supports the event, but would like to see a fee to cover any costs that the county could see. County staff noted that there are currently no fees to rent spaces like Rocca Park, but it is something that is being looked at by the Recreation Department down the road. District Five Supervisor, Jaron Brandon, who represents Jamestown, agreed that it is something to look at in the future, countywide, but argued that there wouldn’t be enough time in this particular situation. It would take time for staff to draft something and bring it back for a vote. The first Jamestown Bazaar is coming up next week.

The vote was 5-0 to allow the Chamber of Commerce to use the park for the upcoming markets. Supervisor Haff stressed that she would like to see the issue of creating nominal fees come back to the board prior to the end of the calendar year.

The Jamestown Bazaar events will run from 4-9pm on the first and third Fridays.
