Vegetation Removal Project In Calaveras To Begin Wednesday
Valley Springs, CA — The Annual Cosgrove Creek Vegetation Management 2024 in Valley Springs will involve crews walking to the site and using hand tools for clearing.
Chainsaws and weedeaters will be heard starting tomorrow, Wednesday, October 17, with the project continuing through mid-November. This season, the county is working with a local landscape maintenance firm and CAL Fire to remove the fuels. Crews will have to walk to the project area carrying those tools to clear the vegetation and debris in the riparian corridor along about a two-mile section of Cosgrove Creek, south of Valley Springs, from Gold Creek Estates to Silver Rapids Road. Regarding the noise, county officials relayed, “Crews working with chainsaws and other equipment will generate noise during daytime hours,” stated county officials. “We ask for your patience and that you exercise extra caution when workers are present. Thank you for your support of this important program.”
The creek is also bordered by Highway 26, traverses a golf course, and passes through populated neighborhoods, according to county officials. The hours of operation will be during normal business hours, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., weekdays.
