The Winter Weather Advisory issued for the western slope of the northern Sierra Nevada and Yosemite National Park above the valley floor, will remain in effect until 4 PM today (Thursday).

According to the National Weather Service, snow is forecast for elevations above 5,000 feet.

The heaviest snow is expected this morning.

The total snow accumulations above the 6,000 foot elevation will range between half-a-foot and a foot.

Winds will continue to gust as high as forty mph. Those gusty winds could bring down tree branches.

Travel could be very difficult from falling snow and slick travel conditions. Slow down and use caution while traveling.

Renewed mountain snowfall chances are expected through the weekend and into early next week, as additional weather systems will move through the region.
