Memorial Day In The Mother Lode
Sonora, CA — It is Memorial Day and there are various events in honor of the holiday throughout the Mother Lode.
At 11:30am in downtown Twain Harte is the annual Memorial Flag Raising Ceremony. All Veterans and family members of fallen heroes are invited to also take part in a special parade as well. Immediately afterwards there will be a hot dog picnic in Eproson Park.
Running throughout the day, from 10-4, is an event to celebrate heroes at the Christian Heights Church Athletic Field on Joshua Way in Sonora. There will be bounce houses, carnival games and rides. There will be an honorary service at noon under a big tent which includes a color guard demonstration. It is a chance to show appreciation for local first responders and Veterans.
Then from 6:30-8:30 is the Calaveras Community Band’s Memorial Day Concert at Murphys Community Park.
