First Weekend Of June Events
The first weekend of June has many unique events, including the Royal Flush Outhouse Races in Twain Harte.
The Twain Harte Rotary is in charge of the annual race, now in it’s fifth year. Mike Lawrence and Terry Northcutt were Wednesday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day” as detailed here. The parade begins at 10 am and the Outhouse Races begin at 11 am. There will be a Craft Fair, food and beverages, Tot Pot races for ages 8 and under, and a Toilet Seat Toss contest for adults including candidates who are running for Board of Supervisor. Also in Twain Harte Saturday morning before the races, Boy Scout Troop 500 Mi-Wuk is hosting a Pancake Breakfast in the Calfire parking lot in Twain Harte. The event listing is here. There is also another breakfast fundraiser in Mountain Ranch for Central Calaveras Fire. Details are here.
Tuolumne County Master Gardeners Open Garden Day is all about kids this Saturday. From 10AM to 1PM activities include making terrariums, painting a pet rock, face painting, flower arranging, planting a miniature flower garden and more. Location details are here.
Saturday at 10AM go on a ranger-led paddling tour of New Melones from the Mark Twain Recreation Area in a Kayaking Excursion up the Stanislaus River Canyon toward Parrotts Ferry. Details are here.
Support the kids of Michelson Elementary School in Murphys at the Michelson Elementary’s Chicken in a Barrel fundraiser. The event is held in Murphys Park, more details are here.
Enjoy a Flag Day Celebration in Jamestown, details are here or a Tongan Luau at the St Patrick’s Parish Hall in Sonora from 4PM to 7PM. Both events are Saturday details on the cost of the family friendly Luau which includes entertainment, Tongan dancing, and a tropical feast of Roast Pig, chicken, shrimp, salads, and desserts are here.
Sunday the Presbyterian Church of the 49ers in Columbia are hosting a community sing-along of favorite songs from the 50s, 60s, 70s, they are calling it a Hootenanny. Popcorn and other snacks will be available. There is no admission charge, however a free will offering will be taken to offset expenses. The event listing is here.
