Supervisors Will Vote On Contract For New Jamestown Traffic Signal
Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne County Supervisors will vote on a $2.3 million contract for a traffic signal to be constructed at the intersection of Highway 108/49 and 5th Avenue in Jamestown.
The proposed contract, on Tuesday’s meeting agenda, would go to Sierra Mountain Construction. A traffic study conducted in 2012 found that a signal would be very beneficial given the heavy amount of traffic that travels along Highway 108/49. The intersection of 5th Avenue (near the CHP Office) has been the site of multiple crashes in past years.
The board is also planning to submit a grant request in the amount of $14.7 million to the state as part of CAL Fire’s Forest Health Grant Program that doles out greenhouse gas reduction funding. The county is hoping to receive money to remove over 124,000 tons of biomass across 12,550 acres.
The supervisors will also provide some final direction ahead of the June 19 vote to approve the preliminary budget that begins July 1st.
In addition, there will be time set aside at 1:30 for the supervisors to give direction regarding the structure of a commercial cannabis tax and related cannabis tax structure, and a seperate possible tax measure to support county services.
Tuesday’s meeting starts at 9am.
