Sacramento, CA — California’s Controller has put out new information detailing the pay of local government leaders.

The purpose of compiling the database for cities and counties is so that taxpayers have a transparent view of local government. The information released by State Controller Betty Yee does not specifically name the employee that received the wage, but the position.

The new figures are for the year 2017, and it shows that CAO Craig Pedro was the highest wage earner in Tuolumne County government, with over $263,000, in addition to the retirement and health contributions paid by the county. The second was Tuolumne County Sheriff Jim Mele with over $194,000 in total wages.

In Calaveras County, District Attorney Barbara Yook was the highest paid, making just over $166,000. Calaveras County’s CAO Tim Lutz, the top government official, was the ninth highest paid, receiving just over $134,000.

In the City of Sonora, Administrator Tim Miller was the highest paid at over $188,000 and the second was Fire Chief Aimee New with $124,000.

In the City of Angels Camp, interim City Administrator Mary Kelly was the top paid at $141,000 and Police Chief Todd Fordahl was second with just over $135,000.
