Update: Vehicle Crashes Into Propane Tank

Update at 7 p.m.: The CHP reports that two men were arrested at the scene of the crash in the 7200 block of O’Byrnes Ferry Road near Poker Flat Road and the Tulloch Bridge on the Calaveras County side. While not releasing their names, the CHP reports one was the driver and the other was a passenger of the vehicle that hit a propane tank. The CHP reports the driver had a searchable warrant and drugs were found, but it is unclear if the drugs were uncovered in the vehicle or on the subjects. The CHP also did not disclose what type of drugs were discovered.  The incident remains under investigation. Further details on the crash are below.

Update at 2:30 p.m.: The CHP reports there were no injuries in a crash in the 7200 block of O’Byrnes Ferry Road near Poker Flat Road and the Tulloch Bridge on the Calaveras County side. The CHP has reported a possible confrontation between two drivers after a woman reported a man in another vehicle threatened her. Additional details on the collision are below.

Update at 1:30 p.m.: The CHP reports the propane tank belongs to Suburban Propane and a representative has been called to the scene to make sure it is safe. The wreckage is off the roadway so traffic is moving freely. As reported below, the tank was capped and there are further crash details.

Original post at 1 p.m.: Copperopolis, CA – Emergency crews are on the scene of a collision on O’Byrnes Ferry Road in the Copperopolis area that has erupted into a possible altercation between two parties, according to the CHP.

The wreck happened around 12:45 p.m. in the 7200 block of O’Byrnes Ferry Road near Poker Flat Road and the Tulloch Bridge on the Calaveras County side. The CHP reports that a vehicles went off the roadway and hit a propane tank, which was leaking but has since been capped. A call for backup went out to Calaveras Sheriff’s Deputies after a female reported that a male occupant was threatening her.

There is no word on injuries, but an ambulance has been called to the scene. We will bring you further details as soon as they come into the news center.
