Update at 1:45 p.m.: Sonora Police remain on the scene of a solo-vehicle crash on Highway 49 in Sonora. Officers continue to direct traffic as a tow truck is on scene to pull the car up from an embankment. More details on the collision are below.
Original post at 1:20 p.m.: Sonora, CA – Emergency crews are on the scene of a solo-vehicle crash on Highway 49 in Sonora that is slowing traffic.
Sonora Police report that a car went off the roadway around 1 p.m. near Pesce Way and down an embankment as seen in the pictures in the image box. It is unclear exactly what caused the woman driver to go off the roadway. Police relay that she, luckily, suffered no injuries.
Officers are directing traffic as it is backed up in both directions. Police ask motorists to avoid the area if possible. We will have an update as soon as more information comes into the news room.
