Homicide Court Date Set
Sonora, CA — A Jamestown father accused of assualting his three month old daughter resulting in her death will find out this month if he will face homicide charges. The Tuolumne County District Attorney’s Office says a motion to amend the charges against 26 year old Kevin Michael Boehmer will be heard January 9th.
In December, Boehmer pled not guilty to assault on a child under the age of 8 resulting in coma/brain damage charges in a Tuolumne County Superior Court.
Now, the District Attorney’s Office says it will be asking a judge to amend the charges to assault on a child under eight resulting in death. If convicted Boehmer faces a maximum sentence of life in prison with the possibility of parole after 25 years.
Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Officials say the little girl, Kalie Boehmer, died after she was taken off life support on December 11th at Oakland Children’s Hospital and pronounced dead.
In an earlier article, Tuolumne County District Attorney Michael Knowles said, “The nature of the injuries indicated the cause of death is non-accidental and support a homicide. The Father has been charged as the responsible party and will now face the amended charge. The child has a number of documented injuries that are not consistent with accidents.”
Boehmer’s bail is set at $200,000. A preliminary hearing has already been set for January 11th at 8:15 a.m. in Department Four of Tuolumne County Superior Court.
