According to the National Weather Service, a small but cold storm system will affect the region from Wednesday afternoon through Friday morning.
Snow levels will drop from 4000 feet on Wednesday night to 1500 feet by Thursday morning.
Up to an inch of snow could fall in the Mother Lode through Thursday. Up to five inches of snow is expected in the Sierra Nevada by Thursday evening.
Gusty winds are expected in the Sierra on Thursday, with gusts up to fifty mph over the highest ridges.
Temperatures on Friday morning will range from the low 30’s in the central valley through the single digits in the high Sierra.
A few lingering light snow showers are expected over the Sierra early Friday.
