Calaveras Science Fair
San Andreas, CA — Calaveras County students in grades four through twelve, who are recommended by their school or who have won at their school’s Science Fair, will be participating in a countywide Science Fair today.
This is the 27th Annual Science Fair, and it is held at the Calaveras River Academy/Mountain Oaks School gymnasium in San Andreas. The event is sponsored by the Teichert Foundation and the Calaveras County Office of Education.
Judging of projects begins at 9:00 am and includes an interview with the student, or students, and a team of judges. Awards will be presented at the Awards Ceremony in the afternoon beginning at 2:30 pm.
Judging standards are based on creativity, scientific thought, skill and clarity. Awards will be presented to the first, second and third place winners at each grade level and a grand prize will be awarded to the most outstanding project.
In addition to trophies, each entry will receive a Science Fair participant medal. Sixth, seventh and eighth as well as high school grade winners will be eligible to compete in the State Science Fair at the California Science Center in Los Angeles on April 30 – May 1, 2012.
Following the judging, fair projects may be viewed by the public until approximately 3:30 pm.
