Sierra Snow Survey Is Dissappointing

Sponsored by:

April’s survey of the Sierra Nevada snowpack showed dissappointing results for this year’s water supply.

Electronic readings of the snowpack in the central Sierra, indicates only a fifty-one percent of year-to-date average for water content.

Results were more dismal in the southern Sierra, where readings showed just thirty-nine percent of normal for April first. To the north, the readings were a little more promising where the measurments indicated the snowpack to be at seventy-eight percent of the average.

Overall the statewide readings in the Sierra averaged out to just fifty-five percent of normal.
