Yosemite, CA – Yosemite National Park gets a cleaning in even the hard to reach spots with the help of some daring volunteers.
The Associated Press reports volunteers back packed out 5,000 pounds of litter strewn around the Park’s cherished peaks, meadows and vistas last month as part of an annual cleanup effort.
More than 1,000 volunteers also collected 15,000 pounds of concrete, asphalt, and other large trash. Rangers say much of the trash could not be removed from the highest crags if it weren’t for climbers wearing protective gear who worked their way up steep cliffs to reach it.
