Tellabration Time, C’mon!
Tales will spin when the Mother Lode Storytelling Guild hosts “Tellabration!” on Saturday, November 17th from 4pm to 6pm at the Angels Camp Mercantile. The program is free and for all ages.
B.Z. Smith, local arts advocate and storyteller, was Friday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.
Tellabration!, a project of the National Storytelling Network, is an annual international celebration of the art of storytelling.
Since 1989 simultaneous storytelling programs have taken place all over the world on the same day as a way to heighten awareness about the art of storytelling. This year marks the central Mother Lode’s 13th annual Tellabration!
This year’s Tellabration! features storyteller and songwriter Mark Stoltenberg with original tales, based on his own life and historic tales of the Gold Rush Era.
“Mark is one of those multi-talented folks,” notes B.Z. Smith, a co-founder of the Mother Lode Storytelling Guild. “Hearing his tales and music is always a treat. Plus, Mark is one of the friendliest people around. He’s kind, witty and a whole lot of fun.”
Joining Stoltenberg will be other Mother Lode storytellers, Cynthia Restivo, Colleen Dolan, Michele Tennant, Claudia Tonge and Smith, serving as emcee.
The two-hour Tellabration! includes an intermission with refreshments available through the Mercantile. Donations to the program are welcome.
The Mother Lode Storytelling Guild exists to support storytellers and story listeners in three central Mother Lode counties: Amador, Calaveras and Tuolumne.
“Here on the Mother Lode we’re blessed with a strong cadre of performing storytellers,” Smith comments. “Plus, we have a growing number of folks who love to come out for the joy of listening to well-told tales.”
