Columbia, CA — What appears to be a jawbone was found in the Big Hill area over the weekend, and an expert is investigating whether it could be that of Darvis Lee Jr.
On Saturday and Sunday, around 60 friends and family went out looking for Lee, who has not been heard from since October. Sgt. Jeff Wilson says, “Two young gentlemen found what they thought was a jawbone, and it has been turned over to an expert who is going to determine whether it is from a human or other animal.”
The searchers found other bone fragments throughout the area, but Sgt. Wilson says that the jawbone has sparked the most interest. All clues were turned over to the Sheriff’s Office.
Lee was last seen in the Columbia area around October 18th, and his car was found shortly after abandoned by Quail Mine off Big Hill Road.
