New Lease Agreement For Visitor Center

Sponsored by:

Angels Camp, CA– This week the Angels Camp City Council approved a new lease for the Calaveras Visitor Center.

In the agreement, the Visitors Center will stay in its original location, pay rent in the amount of $1,139.40 per month and have the City maintain the building and its public restrooms.

The Visitors Bureau was proposing to leave and seek another location after the Council last year proposed charging the Visitor’s Bureau $2,000 a month for rent because of the City’s deficit. The Visitors Bureau has been using City property on Main Street rent free since 2003 in exchange for keeping up the building and the restrooms.

“I’m just thrilled that we can finally move on with some things that we had put on hold like the retail aspect of our business,” said Calaveras Visitors Bureau Executive Director Lisa Mayo. “We’re getting all geared up for Frog Jump and have placed t-shirt orders and lots of frog merchandise that sells well.  We’re glad to be moving on.”
