Supervisors Delay Appeal

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne County Supervisors have delayed by one week whether to appeal the Record of Decision for the Stanislaus National Forest’s Motorized Travel Management Plan.

Some of the Supervisors have concerns that portions of the plan unnecessarily limit the ability of residents to recreate in the forest. Many outdoor enthusiasts have said the plan, which designates where vehicles are allowed to travel, goes too far, while some environmentalists say it doesn’t go far enough.

The Board has compiled a list of concerns that they have asked County Counsel to look over before a vote is taken. They are primarily in regards to accessibility to campsites, winter closure dates and parking. The Supervisors will vote whether to appeal next Tuesday.
