Supervisors Okay Dog Park
Sonora, CA — A dog park is set to be built along Covey Circle in Sonora.
The Tuolumne County Supervisors gave the Sonora Sunrise Rotary Club the okay to construct the park on a 0.9 acre parcel of land owned by the county.
The land was given to the county over 30 years ago as part of a development agreement, and the stipulation was that it must be developed into a park.
Once completed, the park will include separate fenced sections for small and large dogs, a community garden, a small playground area and picnic tables.
The community garden will be a fenced in area consisting of 8-10 raised planting beds. Those beds may be assigned to individuals on a yearly basis. The Rotary Club plans on getting the Master Gardner Program involved in that aspect of the project.
The Rotary Club has agreed to be in charge of upkeep.
