Arnold Bus Stop Explosion Arrest
Murphys, CA — Billy Pinks Jr. of Murphys has been arrested in connection to an October of 2009 pipe bomb explosion at an Arnold bus stop.
Sgt. Dave Seawell says Pinks Jr., 38, was arrested last week for an unrelated charge (possession of stolen property) and had an explosive device commonly known as a “cricket” in his possession.
A search warrant was carried out at his Murphys residence and investigators found items indicating that he may be involved in building explosive devices. The Sheriff’s Department reports that Pinks Jr. was questioned and he admitted to making the pipe bomb and placing it on the shelter at the bus stop.
Pinks Jr. is being held in Calaveras County Jail on $1.5 million bail.
