There are several local events planned before the month wraps up.
Summerville High School will perform The Diary of Anne Frank at the Summerville High School Theater in Tuolumne. Show times are Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7 PM and also Saturday at 2 PM. More information and a link to purchase tickets are in our community calendar here.
Mother Lode Christian School will present the 39th annual Winter Jubilee this Friday and Saturday at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds. Thursday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day” was the Winter Jubilee coordinator Kerry Simpson She notes the event begins Friday at 4 PM with silent auction bidding, a preview of live auction items, a large book sale, pie booth, children’s game room, and the 7th / 8th grade dinner. Saturday the doors open at 9 AM. The silent auction bidding continues and the live auction starts at 11:30. The family event is free for the community except for the fee to enter the game room each day. The event’s details are here.
In Columbia Friday from 4 PM to 7 PM the 49er Church is hosting the Sierra Foothill Residential Care Spaghetti Feed Fundraiser.
Friday at 5 PM is also the Project Saluting Freedom Dinner at the Sonora Opera Hall.
Note Postponed due to Sonora Boy’s Basketball Playoffs: Volley For The Cure fundraiser will be rescheduled, details pending.
At the Tuolumne City Live Playhouse catch the performance Of Mice and Men this Friday through Sunday.
Saturday at the St. Patrick’s Church participate in a game of Bingo To Benefit The Community In Need. The event starts at 11 AM.
Saturday there are two fundraising dinners. The Sierra Senior Providers is hosting the All You Can Eat Crab Feed at the Senior Center in Sonora the details are here.
The other dinner is at the Sonora Elks Lodge, the Mule Deer Foundation Banquet.
The Mother Lode Chapter of the Mule Deer Foundation (MDF) is hosting their 24th annual fund-raising Banquet and Auction this Saturday, February 23rd. As detailed here Chapter Chairman Bill Youngman was Wednesday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”. Proceeds from the event will benefit MDF projects and will help establish important wildlife programs, both locally and nationally. The local Mother Lode MDF Chapter started funding a massive multi-year $369,000 restoration project in the Jaw Bone Lava Cap area of the Stanislaus National Forest through a Master Stewardship agreement with the USFS. The Sonora High Trap club students are volunteering their time to help with this event.
Sunday morning is the 5th Annual Dragoon Gulch Run. The run is hosted to benefit the further expansion of the Dragoon Gulch trail system in Sonora. The race offers a 5k or 10k route on the Dragoon Gulch trails. Participants may enjoy running, Yoga or eat some pancakes. Runners start at 8 AM, hikers start at 8:05 AM, the event is scheduled rain or snow, there is plenty of parking at Woods Creek Park. Location and other details are in the event listing here.
