Winco Beef Recall
Sacramento, CA — The California Department of Public Health is warning consumers to immediately discard recently purchased ground beef at any Winco store.
The ground beef has already been recalled by Winco due to the possibility of an E. coli O157:H7 contamination.
The recalled ground beef was sold in California, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington. Sale dates are March 28 through April 9.
According to Tuolumne County Health Officer Dr. Todd Stolp, "E. coli O157:H7 infection often causes abdominal cramps and diarrhea. People with severe infections may be hospitalized, suffer kidney damage and possibly die. Those most at risk for serious complications include young children, the elderly and those with compromised immune systems."
Consumers with any of these symptoms should contact their health care provider immediately.
Consumers with recalled products should either discard the product or return it to the point of purchase for a refund.
