Smart Meters Inaccurate
Sacramento, CA — PG&E now admits that as many as 23,000 customers in its Smart Meter program may have received inaccurate utility bills.
The Associated Press reports that after PG&E insisted that only a few customers were dealing with bills that were higher or lower than they should be, the utility company is now acknowledging the size of the problem.
Senior company officials also said they had responded poorly to consumer complaints, and would work to restore trust in the program.
The new meters let PG&E get information about gas and electricity use wirelessly. A state commission is investigating customer complaints about the bills.
