Flash Flood Warning Issued For Yosemite National Park

Sponsored by:

The National Weather Service had issued a Flash Flood Warning on Friday for Yosemite National Park.

A stationary thunderstorm was bringing heavy rain to the eastern section of the Park. Two to four inches of rain wass possible.

Locations affected include Tuolumne Meadows, Tenaya Lake and the Ansel Adams Wilderness Area.

The storm caused about thirty rocks to fall onto Highway 120, at the 9000 foot mark, near the Warren Canyon trail head. Caltrans crews swept the rocks off of the roadway.

Always use caution and never drive a vehicle into areas where water covers the road. Drivers need to watch for dirt, rock and mud slides affecting area roadways. Campers and hikers should avoid being near streams and creeks.
