Angels Camp, CA — Effective later this month, the cost of water is increasing for residents in the City of Angels Camp.
At its recent meeting, the city council approved a 3% increase in city water rates and a 6.22% increase in the Utica Water and Power Authority pass-through fees. In addition, there is a 2% increase in wastewater rates.
The city states that the adjustments are consistent with the multi-year rate plan approved as part of an earlier Proposition 218 Process (February 2025).
Under Prop 218, water providers are required to notify customers of potential rate increases in advance and provide ample opportunity for customers to raise concerns and object.
The increases take effect this coming June 21.
In a notice to customers, the city states, “These changes are based on the city’s adopted Water and Wastewater Cost of Service Study and are necessary to maintain reliable utility service, fund ongoing infrastructure improvements, address inflationary operating costs, and maintain compliance with state utility requirements.”
For example, the current fixed monthly water rate for a 5/8″ meter will go from $47.87 to $49.31. The UWPA fees for a 5/8” meter will increase from $14.33 to $15.22. The wastewater flat rate for residential customers will go from $109.03 to $111.21. The non-residential minimum charge will increase from $137.66 to $140.41.
The new rates are further detailed in the image box.
