Update at 6:48 p.m.: Tuolumne County Sheriff’s officials report that the standoff over an eviction notice being served is over. They posted this statement this evening:
“Negotiations were successful, with a peaceful resolution of this incident. After several hours of continuous negotiations, both individuals exited the residence and were detained without further incident. There will still be a law enforcement presence in the area for the next hour or so as units wrap things up and clear the scene.
Update at 4:25 p.m.: Tuolumne County Sheriff’s officials update that negotiators are still talking to the two individuals barricaded inside their rental home on Church Street, near Barretta Street, in Sonora after being served an eviction notice. The neighbors report to Central Sierra Broadcasting that SWAT officials called out over a loudspeaker that those holed up in the rental home were under arrest and to come out of the front door with nothing in their hands.”
Sheriff’s officials report that at this time, the men continue to refuse to leave. They continue to ask the public to avoid the area for safety reasons. Church Street is currently closed between Shepherd and Beretta streets.
Update at 2:15 p.m.: Tuolumne County Sheriff’s officials (TCSO) advise that a SWAT team has arrived on the scene in the area of Church Street, near Barretta Street, in Sonora. They updated, “Law enforcement is still on the scene negotiating with the individuals barricaded in the residence. Please continue to avoid the area.”
Update at 12:30 p.m.: The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office has put out this statement surrounding the law enforcement presence in the area of Church Street, near Barretta Street, in Sonora:
“Please avoid the area of Church Street near Shepherd Street (12:00 pm)
The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office Crisis Response Unit (CRU) is currently on scene, along with other first responders, for two subjects who have barricaded themselves inside a residence and are refusing to exit. For public safety and the safety of the first responders on scene, we ask that the public please avoid the area. Church Street is currently closed between Shepherd St. and Beretta St.
We will provide additional updates as time allows.”

The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office confirms that it is due to an eviction notice being served at a rental property. The suspects have barricaded themselves inside.
Church Street is currently blocked to vehicle traffic. Be prepared for activity in the area.
