Sonora Regional Medical Center Keeps Busy

Sponsored by:

In terms of activities, October is a busy month for Sonora Regional Medical Center.

Gail Witzlesteiner, SRMC’s Director of Develpment and Public Relations, was Wednesday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.

Over weekend a large crowd attended the 10th annual Joie de Vie Gala at Ironstone Vineyards, which included a silent auction, dinner, entertainment and the presentation of the Irving Symons Award.

The 2010 Irving Symons Award was presented to Chuck and Willy Evans for their outstanding, long-term service to the community.

The event brought in a total of $53,500 for the cancer patient support fund. All of the money from the Gala will be assisting patients of the Sonora Regional Cancer Center with special individual needs. Funds from last year’s Gala have assisted cancer patients with personal needs such as childcare, transportation to treatment, house cleaning, household expenses and emergency medication.

Today is the second and final day of the Tuolumne County Health Fair at the Motherlode Fairgrounds. Sonora Regional Medical Center has a number of people and departments at the Fair, providing balance testing anemia screening and helping out with over 4,000 lab draws.

The Health Fair runs today until 3PM. The blood draw is $20.

SRMC will be having an open house next week for their Live Well Be Well Center, 19747 Greenley Road, on Wednesday, October 27 from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

The open house will showcase the Center’s Cardiac Rehab Department’s classes and exercise equipment, and Nutritional Services Program. Activities will include a chef’s healthy food demonstration, information on classes and support groups and tours of the facility, Greenley Primary Care, Cardiac Rehab and the Anticoagulation Clinic.

For more information, call 536-5024.

The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard each weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:47, 7:47 and 8:47am.
