Murphys, CA — The properties owned by Stevenot Winery in Murphys are set to go on the auction block on January 12th as part of a foreclosure proceeding with Bay Sierra Mortgage Fund of Santa Rosa, but the owner is planning to file bankruptcy papers to allow time to raise the money needed to keep the business operational.
Jack Munari told The Record newspaper that the winery will not close, but rather expand. Munari and his son Al have owned the winery since 2006 when it was purchased from Barden Stevenot.
Munari has attributed the wineries recent financial losses to poor pricing decisions rather than a lack of sales.
