February To March Foreclosures Decline In Tuolumne County
Sonora, CA — In a comparison of February to March, foreclosures actually declined in Tuolumne County.
According to Assistant Recorder Patsy Knox, there were 28 trustee deeds (foreclosures) in February and only 16 in March.
However other numbers increased. In February there were 68 notices of defaults … a month later there were 99. Also in February there were 28 notices of trustee sales (notice that property will be sold at public auction) … in March there were 36.
When asked why there was an increase in the first two steps of the foreclosure process (notice of default and notice of trustee sales) from February to March but a decrease in the final step (trustee deed), Knox commented, "It might have been the fact that there was a 30 day grace period when individuals had to wait to execute the trustee deeds."
