V.N.A. And Hospice Could Be On Chopping Block

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — A Bielenson hearing has been scheduled for May 26th before the Tuolumne County Supervisors to discuss a potential closure of the Visiting Nurse Association of the Mother Lode and Hospice of the Sierra.

The County will decide whether to transfer services to the private sector, end the services entirely or continue the services as they currently stand.

If the two services continue in their current state through June 30, 2010, it will cost the county an estimated $312,000, according to information from CAO Craig Pedro. A closure or shift to the private sector would reduce general fund obligations.
