Napa Students Safely Return Home

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — The students from the Stone Bridge Charter School in Napa all returned home safe following a three day camping trip near Pinecrest.

Twenty-eight students were on the trip, and seven adults, says Reed Schneider with the Sierra Outdoor School, which helped organize the trip.

On Friday morning the group encountered hail, snow, rain, wind and a significant drop in temperature. The group took shelter in a rocky area between Cleo’s Bath and Pinecrest Lake, and called for some extra help.

“The Sheriff’s Department Search and Rescue was involved and they checked everyone out,” says Schneider.  “There were some kids that were pretty cold and some kids that were wet, but no one was hypothermic.”

A Tuolumne County Search and Rescue patrol boat assisted in bringing all the involved parties across the lake and to the Pinecrest Fire House.
