House Bill Includes Funding For Rawhide Bridge
Sonora, CA — A transportation bill up for debate in Washington, DC includes $5 million for repairs along Rawhide Rd., notably the replacement of the Rawhide Bridge.
Tuolumne County Public Works Director Peter Rei told the County Supervisors Tuesday that the project was inserted into the package by Congressman George Radanovich.
“I’m happy to tell you that the House passed the bill with that demonstration project in it, and it is now in the Senate,” said Rei. “President Obama has said that he will sign the bill if it gets to his desk, so the only question is whether it will now pass.”
If approved by the Senate, Rei said it would still be another three to four years before the start of construction.
