Supervisors Vote Down Trinitas Appeal
San Andreas, CA — An appeal by the Trinitas golf course developers has been defeated by the Calaveras County Supervisors.
Michael and Michelle Nemee were given an order by county staff on May 15th to stop golfing operations on their property because it is a violation of current zoning restrictions.
Trinitas filed an appeal to qualify as agritourism, but it was voted down this week by the Supervisors 3-2. Against the motion were Tom Tryon, Steve Wilensky and Merita Callaway, and in favor were Russ Thomas and Gary Tofanelli.
Board Chair Thomas states, "In our minds (Thomas and Tofanelli), we were voting for economic enterprise and potential for new tourism. Three of the other Supervisors felt that the project wasn’t conducted in a way that would comply with our ordinance that allows a certain amount of adjunct activities taking place on working farms and ranches."
The Trinitas property near Wallace is scheduled to go on the auction block on Friday.
