Tuolumne County Family NOT Involved In Woodland Accident

Woodland, CA — The Woodland C.H.P. Office has confirmed that a Tuolumne County family was not involved in the Monday afternoon accident that claimed the life of a 10 year old girl on County Rd. 22 west of County Rd. 103.

The story stating that a 10 year old Tuolumne County girl had been killed in that 1:20 accident appeared on modbee.com … the online website for the Modesto Bee.

However in checking with the local C.H.P. office KVML News learned that the driver of the vehicle, 25 year old Arnold Barraza, has two listed residences; Woodland and Tulare, not Tuolumne County.

According to the C.H.P. report Barraza was traveling at an excessive rate of speed in a 45mph zone when he lost control of the vehicle.  The 2009 Mazda rolled over and in the process the three children (the 10 year old girl, four year old girl and a one year old boy) were all ejected. None of them was wearing a seatbelt or in a safety restraint seat.

The two surviving children along with Barraza and 28 year old Cirena Martinez of Woodland were transported to the U.C. Davis Medical Center with major injuries.

The C.H.P. report indicates Barraza is being investigated for “driving under the influence.”
