Sponsored by:

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the Motherlode and Sierra Nevada, which remains in effect until midnight.

Snow levels could fall low enough to dust all of Tuolumne and Calaveras counties this morning.

The Motherlode’s foothills could see several inches as low as 2000 feet. Six to twelve inches of total snow accumulation is expected at 3000 feet. Two to three feet of snow is possible above 3000 feet.

Winds could gust from forty to fifty mph over the higher elevations as well.

Following the storm, a Hard Freeze Warning will go into effect for Tuesday morning from 2 AM to 9 AM. Temperatures could fall into the low 20’s throughout most of the Motherlode. A Hard Freeze Watch has also been issued from Tuesdy night through Wednesday morning.

Sensitive crops and vegetation could be at risk. Pets and livestock that may be sensitive to the cold should be bought into protective areas. Some locations may experience problems with waterlines.
