Plans For Resort At Yosemite Junction Moving Forward

Sonora, Ca — Those involved with the proposed Grand Yosemite National Resort and Spa held a pair of open meetings Thursday at the Sonora Elks Lodge in which members of the community were able to get an update on the project that is proposed for the Yosemite Junction.

The resort has been in the works for eight years, and would include a championship golf course, four-star hotel which would stand two stories, 40 single family homes, 20 affordable apartments, a Tuolumne County Visitors Center and 200 acres of open space.

Managing Partner Troy Claveran says one of the priorities has been to make sure that the project has multiple aspects that will benefit the community as a whole.

“We understand how sensitive this property is,” says Claveran. “We´re going to be recycling wastewater, have a Sheriff´s Office on site and a shuttle service where people can park their cars and catch a ride to Yosemite or other communities such as Jamestown or Columbia.”

The project would also create an estimated 400 plus jobs. The Draft Environmental Impact Report is currently being conducted by Tuolumne County staff and should be complete within the next three to four months. Following an open period for public comments, the report would then go before the Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors.
