Area Students Recognized For Accomplishments

Sonora, Ca — The Tuolumne County Chamber of Commerce´s 2008 Students of the Year were recognized at Thursday´s Installation and Honors Banquet.

Elise Valloton is the Associated Student Body President of Tioga High School and Captain of the Varsity Volleyball Team. She holds a GPA of 3.52 and is looking to possibly attend Montana University upon graduation.

Matt Relei is the quarterback and Captain of the Sonora High School Football Team. He was named the Tuolumne County Sheriff´s Department Junior Citizen of 2005 and has earned an Eagle Scout.

Serena Acierto is the Student Body President of Don Pedro High School and is an accomplished athlete. She has won the local Lion´s Club Speech Contest two years in a row.

Summerville High Senior Kayla Ledwick was unable to attend Thursday´s Banquet, but joined the Future Business Leaders of America last year, and is now the club´s President. She has also been an active volunteer, and displayed great pride in her school.
