“State Of The City” Delivered To Sonora City Council

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — Sonora City Administrator Greg Applegate had primarily positive comments in his annual “State Of The City” address.

At the city council´s regular meeting Tuesday night, Applegate said even though there is currently a correction going on in the housing market, the city seems to be moving forward in a very stable fashion in regards to economic growth.

Applegate says,I think one of the highlights is looking at occupation of buildings. With our large shopping centers there is virtually little or no space available. In downtown Sonora, we have a few vacancies, but several are going through rehabs and business expansions. I think those are very strong economic indicators that the city is moving in the right direction.”

Applegate says one of the overall challenges will be making sure that growth overall is “quality growth.” He adds that he hopes the city will soon be able to break free from the Lowes litigation. Applegate says the Home Improvement Center moving in, along with some smaller projects on the horizon, indicates that the economic climate is strong in Sonora.
