Four Arrested For West Point Burglary
West Point, CA — Four suspects have been arrested for the West Point burglary that involved stolen minerals.
A vacation home on Winton Road was burglarized earlier this month. $50,000 worth of minerals were stolen along with a Willy´s Jeep, an ATV, and several tools.
This week Calaveras County Sheriff´s Department investigators found the newly spray-painted Willy´s at a home on Mitchell Lane in Wilseyville. A subject approached authorities on the stolen ATV but fled the area and lost them by a nearby river.
Later warrants were issued to the home on Mitchell Lane and a home on Blue Mountain Road. 23-year old Samuel Campa, 18-year old Danielle Schaffner and 24-year old Emily Surginer, all of Wilseyville were arrested along with 32-year old Dirk Caviglia of Vallejo.
Nearly all of the stolen property has been recovered.
Surginer and Schaffner were released from jail due to overcrowding. Previously, Surginer was sentenced to serve 240 days in county jail but was released early with time served due to overcrowding.
