Yankee Hill Fire Near Columbia Is Now 100 Acres

Columbia, Ca — CAL Fire´s Lisa Williams says that the Yankee Hill Fire near Italian Bar Rd. is now 60% contained, and estimated at 100 acres.
Initially CAL Fire was hoping for a noontime containment. That, however, has been pushed to 3pm.
“The reason for that is because there is steep terrain, heavy fuels and mine shafts in the area that has slowed the progress,” says Williams.
The fire broke out near an illegal marijuana grow. The circumstances surrounding the cause are still under investigation. Two firefighters have reported minor injuries while fighting the blaze.
