T.U.D. Holds Meeting To Discuss Future
Sonora, Ca — The Tuolumne Utilities District Board of Directors met Wednesday to begin preparing a strategic plan for the coming years.
T.U.D. General Manager Pete Kampa says some important issues were discussed during the six hour meeting.
“We definitely want to maximize our available water supplies and secure future additional supplies of water,” says Kampa.
On that note, the District plans to work with the State Water Resources Control Board to possibly secure more water for customers.
“We have a county of origin right under the water code passed in the 1920´s, so we just have to prove that we have the existing and future need for water supplies,” says Kampa. “Then we have to determine where we get it, whether it be out of South Fork, New Melones or some other source.”
Kampa notes that if the District secures new supply, it will also have to find a way to store it. One option being looked at is to expand existing reservoirs.
According to Kampa, the District also plans to invest in its workforce and infrastructure in the future. He says there will also be increased effort to practice environmental stewardship with all projects.
